Tips to avoid the Spam Filters

- Avoid using lots of exclamation marks
- Avoid using ALL CAPS as it appears as yelling in email
- Avoid using lots of different font colours
- Avoid sending just an image with little or no text
- Avoid using capitals in the subject line or leaving the subject blank
- Avoid having lots of blank lines in the body of the email that makes up more
than 70%
- Avoid unnecessary or repeating double-quotation marks
- Avoid attempting to disguise words within the email or using the same font colour as background
- Avoid having the “from” field and “reply” field being empty
- Avoid G.A.P.P.Y-T.E.X.T with lots of spaces or underscores
- Avoid emails containing attachments e.g. EXE, BAT, PIF files
- Avoid using to many graphics and never embed images
- Avoid using BCC distribution
- Don’t post to many different URL links in your email
- Don’t include jokes, puns, or cute praises
- Run your email through a SPAM checker before sending
- Avoid using very large or very small font sizes
- Monitor delivery to accounts e.g. Hotmail, AOL, Outlook and Yahoo
- Don’t overuse bold text
